If you wind along the rolling shores of Lake Pepin far enough, past the biker bars and designated scenic vistas, you’ll find a microcosm of the Twin Cities. Just four blocks long and one block tall, the village of Stockholm (population 66) is dense with enough cute shops, good food, and curiosities to easily fill a fine day. The village even offers a bike-sharing service called the Blue Bike Project to help visitors explore. It’s a lot like our Nice Ride, except the bikes are fixed-up junkers, painted blue, and the stations are just a couple of racks with no locks in sight. It’s simple and charming, like Stockholm itself. After a day of discoveries, it’s time to pick up a piece of pie from the iconic Stockholm Pie Company, and cruise downhill to the village’s lakeside park and RV campsite to digest while you sit on a swing.
